Military

Intergovernmental

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), also called the North Atlantic Alliance, is an intergovernmental military alliance between 30 European and North American countries. The combined military spending of all NATO members in 2020 constituted 56% of the global nominal total. Members agreed to reach or maintain the target defense spending of at least 2% of their GDP by 2024, regardless of threats or risks.

The Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) outlines the European Union’s (EU) plans and policies of defence and crisis management, and is a main component of the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP). The CSDP involves military or civilian missions supposedly deployed to preserve peace, prevent conflict and strengthen international security, however stopping migration has become a key priority for the ongoing Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions in Mali and Niger. Military missions are carried out by EU forces established with secondments from the member states’ armed forces.

ASEAN, officially the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is an economic union comprising 10 member states in Southeast Asia. ADIC was established to enhance defence industrial inter-dependence within ASEAN and thereby to foster indigenisation and technological independence when it comes to local armaments production.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is an intergovernmental military alliance in Eurasia that consists of selected post-Soviet states. Current member states include Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.

The Economic Community of West African States Monitoring Group (ECOMOG) was a West African multilateral armed force established by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The African Union is a continental union consisting of 55 member states located on the continent of Africa.
